Korea-Austria Joint Conference on Technical Cooperation in Hydrogen Energy and ICT

Thursday, 11 November 2021, 09:00–13:00 (CEST) Virtual (register here)

Background

The Republic of Korea and Austria have been strengthening science and technology cooperation since 1998. Based on a memorandum of understanding signed in 2019, the first Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology was held in Vienna, which was followed by an exchange program for researchers in 2020. In June 2021, during the state visit by the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in, to Austria, the two countries committed to expanding cooperation in future cutting-edge industries such as hydrogen energy and ICT. Enhanced cooperation in these fields will produce mutually beneficial outcomes by combining Austria's advanced scientific and technological capabilities with Korea's world-class commercialization and industrialization abilities.

Objectives

The aim of the conference is to bring experts from Korea and Austria together to discuss the current status of technology development and cooperation plans in areas of common interest, in particular hydrogen energy and ICT. The results of the conference will serve as reference points to derive measures for deepening collaboration between the two countries in a Second Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology.
